Perhaps meant to attract travelers from Western countries, Ulzhan is a cinematic travelogue of Asian desert travel. The film uses shades of light and striking compositions to paint a picture of the contemporary culture of Central Asia.

The story focuses on a treasure hunter who's also looking for healing and love. The plot contains the proper mix of drama, character conflict and general human commentary to carry this sort of quiet film.

Ulzhan possesses the charm of naivety, emphasizing a hippie-shaman, exotic version of Asia.
