St. Vlaho Hope, Faith and LoveDirected by Mario Miljak, 2006 By Rada Djurica This is a short documentary film directed by the young and talented Mario Miljak, about the connection between the history of Dubrovnik and its patron saint, St. Vlaho. As told by the rector of the Catholic Church, Don Toma Lucic, the film illuminates the religious aspect of Dubrovnik's celebration of St. Vlaho, shedding light on the strong faith held for centuries among the Dubrovnik population, despite turbulence, national migrations and wars. Clearly, this documentary took great preparation and lots of effort, mainly by director Miljak. An reproduction of a 16th century tall ship was built for this purpose, which, after the financing went downhill, became primarily a tourist attraction.
